Journal

The Journal turns your raw trade history into a structured review practice. It pulls your closed trades from each connected exchange, organizes them by day, and lets you annotate, rate, and analyze them — so you can find what's working, fix what isn't, and trade with intent.

Why journal?

Profitable trading is a feedback loop. The Journal closes that loop:

  • Review every trade against the plan you had going in
  • Tag setups, mistakes, and emotions so patterns surface over time
  • Measure expectancy with R-multiples, not just raw PnL
  • Reflect in a structured notebook tied to your actual performance

Main areas

The Journal is organized into four tabs (your last-viewed tab is remembered):

TabPurpose
JournalA day-centric home — calendar heatmap, per-day KPIs, and the trades you took that day, ready to annotate
ReportsAggregate analytics — wins vs losses, A/B comparisons, and breakdowns by symbol, setup, weekday, and hour
NotebookA folder-organized journal for session recaps, weekly prep, and free-form notes
PlaybooksReusable setup templates with checklists you can hold each trade against

Scoping your view

Like the Dashboard, the Journal has exchange and API key selectors at the top:

  • Pick a single exchange to focus your review
  • Choose All keys to combine every key on that exchange, or a specific key to isolate one account

All stats, the calendar, and the trade list update to match the selected scope.

The day-centric workflow

The Journal is built around the day, because that's how most traders review:

  1. Open the calendar and spot your green and red days at a glance
  2. Select a day to see its KPIs, its trades, and a running PnL curve
  3. Annotate each trade — tag the setup, rate execution, note what happened
  4. Step back to the Reports tab to see the patterns across all your days

Where the data comes from

Trades are read from each exchange's trade-history API. Accuracy depends on:

  • Complete trade history being available from the exchange
  • An API key with read permission (the Journal never needs withdrawal access)
  • A consistent connection to the exchange

History backfill and coverage

The Journal backfills up to 365 days of history for each API key in the background. While that's running, a "Backfilling older history" banner shows the sync progress — totals will grow as more history syncs, so treat them as partial until the backfill completes. If the selected window isn't fully covered yet, an "Incomplete history" notice tells you exactly which date range is verified for the selected keys; totals outside that coverage may be partial.

The Journal is read-and-annotate only. It records your reflections on trades you already made — it never places or modifies orders.
