Daily Review

The Journal tab is built around a single day at a time. You spot a day on the calendar, open it, and work through the trades you took — tagging setups, rating execution, and noting what happened.

The calendar

The calendar shows the selected month as a heatmap:

  • Each day is tinted green (net profit) or red (net loss)
  • The cell shows the day's net P&L (the trade count appears in the day panel when you open the day, not on the calendar cell)
  • The current day is highlighted

Use the date picker at the top of the calendar to jump to any month. Days are bucketed by your local timezone, so a trade shows up on the calendar day you actually took it.

Scan the month first. A row of red days around the same time or symbol is usually a pattern worth investigating in the Reports tab.

The day panel

Selecting a day opens its panel:

  • Day stats — net P&L, trade count, win rate, average R, and how many trades you've reviewed
  • Running P&L — a curve of cumulative P&L across the day's trades
  • Trade list — every trade you took that day, ready to annotate
  • Daily note — a free-text note for the day as a whole

The day panel fetches that day's full trade history, so its numbers always match the calendar cell.

Reading a trade row

Each row summarizes one trade and exposes quick annotation controls:

ColumnMeaning
Time / Symbol / SideWhen and what you traded
Net P&LRealized profit or loss
Net ROIReturn relative to position notional
RThe trade's R-multiple — realized P&L ÷ planned risk (see below)
TagsA count of how many review tags you've added
Setup / MistakeInline tag pickers you can set without opening the trade
RatingA quick 1–5 star execution score
ReviewedA toggle to mark the trade reviewed

Reviewing a trade

Click Review (or the row) to open the full review dialog. Here you capture the story of the trade:

  • Setup, Mistake, Emotion, Market condition — categorize the trade so patterns aggregate in Reports
  • Execution rating — score how well you executed, independent of the outcome
  • Trade notes — what you saw, what you planned, what you'd do differently
  • Screenshots — paste image URLs of the chart or your levels
  • Risk amount ($) / Manual R fallback — record the dollars you risked so R is computed automatically, or enter an R-multiple in the fallback field for older/incomplete trades that don't have a recorded risk
  • Followed my plan? — mark whether you stuck to your plan (Followed / Broke rule)
  • Playbook — link the trade to one of your playbooks
  • Status — mark the trade Unreviewed, Reviewed, or Flagged (saving an unreviewed trade also auto-flips it to Reviewed)

Use Save to store the review, or Save & Next to move straight to the next trade. The dialog is fully keyboard-accessible — Tab stays inside it and Esc closes it.

If a save fails (for example, a dropped connection), the dialog shows an error and keeps your input — nothing is silently lost.

R-multiple (the "R factor")

R-multiple expresses a trade's result in units of the risk you took, which makes wins and losses comparable across position sizes:

  • Enter a Risk amount and Crodl computes R = realized P&L ÷ risk
  • Or enter a Manual R value directly when you don't track a dollar risk
  • The trade row shows the resulting R, and the day panel shows your average R (your expectancy)

A positive average R means your edge pays more than it risks. Learn more in Reports & Metrics.
