PnL Tracking
Crodl tracks your profit and loss in real-time on every connected exchange, giving you a complete picture of your trading performance.
Understanding PnL
Unrealized PnL
Profit or loss on positions that are still open. This changes in real-time as the market moves.
- Green values indicate profit
- Red values indicate loss
- Calculated as:
(Mark Price - Entry Price) × Sizefor longs
Realized PnL
Profit or loss from positions that have been closed. This is locked in and won't change.
- Includes trading fees
- Updated when positions are closed
- Accumulated over your trading history
ROI (Return on Investment)
Your PnL expressed as a percentage of your margin:
ROI = (Unrealized PnL / Initial Margin) × 100%
PnL Display
PnL is displayed throughout Crodl:
| Location | Shows |
|---|---|
| Dashboard hero | Total equity with 30-day net PnL, plus total available margin |
| Position row (terminal and Positions page) | Per-position PnL and ROI |
| Dashboard analytics | Historical PnL charts |
| PnL calendar | Aggregated daily PnL (or volume) per calendar day |
PnL Calculations
Per Position
Each position's PnL is reported by the exchange, calculated from its mark price:
- Long:
(Mark Price - Entry Price) × Size - Short:
(Entry Price - Mark Price) × Size
Including Fees
Your net PnL accounts for:
- Trading fees (maker/taker)
- Funding rate payments
- Any exchange-specific charges
PnL calculations use the exchange's mark price, not the last traded price. This prevents manipulation and provides more accurate valuations.
Tracking Over Time
Your performance history lives in the dashboard's Analytics section and the Journal:
- Daily PnL — Net profit or loss each day (analytics bar chart and PnL calendar)
- Cumulative PnL — Running total over time (analytics equity curve)
- Drawdown — Max PnL drawdown, the largest peak-to-trough decline (analytics)
- Best/Worst days — Highlighted as stat cards on the Journal tab
Tips for PnL Management
- Set daily loss limits to prevent emotional trading
- Track your PnL relative to your account size, not just absolute numbers
- Review weekly to identify if your strategy is working
